Brian and Chuck

This is a rather large drawing and
is a little dark here...but translates well
on the parchment. Love this one....

A week after drawing Brian
the mojo is still here...
and I like how easy this one came
out...only why does he have a dirty
left knee? Will have to fix that

This one was another easy sketch....
Rich red earth tone on soft beige Italian
paper....Mmmm.

This one...last of the afternoon....
(there were private drawings done
for a client in between...)this one
looks a little lost.

After days of drawing Brian...from early in the morning til late
afternoon with only a half hour break
(during which Brian went running)...
I can only say that it was heaven...hard work...
headache inducing....aggravating..
.frustrating...
heaven!

The drawing above is one I will
not sell until I draw one I like
even more...it is my form of
PORNO! Mmmmm

This is a very classical sketch
during which I felt it time to stop
where it is....I could have drawn more
but something told me to leave it
as is....

The wonderful paper I used up
on Brian...lends itself beautifully
to simple pencil work....

Ahhh....the oil pastels....
I would like to make prints of these
two...and there is a third I need
to take better pics of....

Oil pastel on Parchment....who knew?

As though Manny and Brian were
in the same body....litho crayon
and soft pastel...on the fantastic blue denim
paper from Montreal...

There are many more drawings I hope to share as soon as the pics are edited and good enough to show how wonderful working with Brian for 3 days was....

Finally got to draw again...

Finally had a chance to draw recently.
The summer held far too much
work and other distractions.
Hopefully now, they are behind
and I can redevelop a focus.
A recent trip to the Art
Institute of Chicago
fueled my passion
and I am anxious to try
some new ideas.

Next, just a pen sketch that happened due
to new sketchbook syndrome.
Also.... I liked the look of the figure.

An afternoon with a model is one of the best things
to spend time on.
Great conversation...creative atmosphere...
and the resulting drawings can be very
satisfying.

Trying NEW paper!!!!
Absolutely wonderful to work with....
can't wait to explore all I can do with it..

I like the direction I'm goin' with
the colored pencils...just hate that there
are still so many things to fix.

Detail from below...

This one was fun...

I put my favorite type of sink
behind him. Still too cartoony for
my tastes...trying to figure out
why my linework is coming out
that way...must be some setting
on my pencils.

Going to do a whole bunch of these shirtless
men in jeans...cause I like looking a them!
Still somethings to fix...but basically this is it.

J contacted me out of the blue and wanted to model
so I said...DUH! Yes...of course...the last one of the day
is when I am warmed up and lines are flowing.

These are the warmups...just conte
on white. The first one up there
is the only one I like...of the three.

Legs are wonky on this one...

Proportions are off on this one...

Quintessential torso for me....
this is on a scrap of sanded pastel stock
very small...only about 6" x 9"

Retouched just a bit...Like them
better now.

In trying to draw everyday,
I snuck a coffee the other day
and sat and sketched. The angles on this
sketch above are soooo bad. I could
blame it on the small table in the back
corner I was at...but I won't. Just me.

This guy was making all the girls
giggle and when he left they debated
his name. They all agreed it started
with "handsome".

When I worked as a carpenter, I promised myself
I would go to sites and draw. Have not done it.
Seeing this manlift reminded me how much
I enjoy drawing machinery and heavy equipment.

My son "owed" me some chores,
so I had him model. Trying some new
things with washes and pastels.

Still too cartoony for my taste.
